Summer festival in Japan - from my archive
7:31 PMOne of the best memories I have from my trip to Japan this year was this day. I went to a festival together with my host family, and it took place at my host sister Rino's old kindergarden. She is 8 years old and the cutest little girl I've ever seen, and while she ran around with her friends (all dressed in super cute kimonos, traditional japanese clothing) I just enjoyed the moment and tried to be sneaky while photographing the people. Everyone there were all so kind and understanding - I was just a confused foreign girl with very limited japanese speaking skills after all - and of course they we're curious. I was very exotic in their eyes; a real swedish viking. It was a very fun afternoon with all the music, the kids, the people, everything! It was all so new and different to me, but I loved it. Japanese culture and traditions are so cool and interesting, and for someone like me who almost just arrived in this new strange country this sure was an amazing thing to be a part of.
